Crisis Counseling

A sexual assault can be a devastating physical and emotional experience. Dealing with the trauma of a sexual assault can be difficult.

Nothing you did or did not do gives another person the right to assault you. Nothing.

At the SATC, support is available for anyone who experiences sexual violence. We have experienced professional counselors to help with your healing.

If you are a victim of sexual abuse, call the Sex Abuse Treatment Center’s (SATC) 24-hour hotline at 808-524-7273 to connect with an SATC crisis worker. They will offer you the support, care, and advocacy you need at this difficult time. A SATC crisis counselor can help you with medical care, reporting to the police, telling family or friends and other questions you may have.

SATC’s Crisis  Counseling services focus on reducing trauma-related symptoms and helping survivors develop healthy coping skills following sexual violence. Services are available at no cost to both primary and secondary victims, regardless of whether a medical forensic examination was completed.

Our experienced crisis counselors provide emotional support, guidance, advocacy, and assistance navigating difficult decisions during the healing process. Counselors can also support survivors through difficult decisions (Should I report to the police? Should I tell others what happened?), and support survivors as they work on regaining a sense of normalcy.

For individuals interested in longer-term therapy, SATC crisis counselors can assist with connecting survivors to a therapist that best fits their needs.
