Education & Training for Communities
The SATC provides community presentations to increase participants' knowledge and sensitivity about sexual violence, to inform them about SATC's services, and to empower them to help prevent sexual violence. Presentations are tailored to the needs and concerns of each community group.

Media Activities and Community-Based Wellness Events
Throughout the year, radio commercials are aired to raise awareness about sexual violence and to encourage survivors to seek counseling and other services.
SATC staff also participates in various community fairs and events reaching many residents island-wide. Staff uses eye-catching displays and brochures to educate the community about sexual violence, victim services, and prevention strategies.
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, a variety of awareness building activities are held in conduction with press releases to local media.
[ r e s p e c t ]™ and the Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY)
The SATC partners with HTY to deliver engaging and interactive performances addressing sexual violence for middle and high school students.

[ r e s p e c t ]™ 2.0
A performance for high school students that combines live theatre with technology to discuss sexual violence in an age of social media.
The performance empowers teens to establish safe, respectful relationships, and become active participants in preventing sexual violence. [ r e s p e c t ]™ 2.0 includes:
- A 30 to 90-minute (variable based on request) interactive play performed in high school classrooms of up to 40 students.
- Integrated discussion throughout the performance involving the audience and facilitated by the actors.
- Student evaluation completed at the end of the program.
Expect [ r e s p e c t ]™
A performance for middle school students that focuses on the importance of respecting boundaries and how students can contribute to a safer environment for everyone.
Expect [ r e s p e c t ]™ includes:
- 1-hour performance made up of short vignettes.
- Integrated discussion throughout the performance involving the audience and facilitated by the actors.
- Student evaluation survey completed at the end of the program.
Shots Film and Discussion
Length of Session: 1-2 hours (Can vary based on request)
A short film created by the SATC and Hawai'i Coalition Against Sexual Assault (HCASA) highlights the high-risk intersection between alcohol and sexual violence.
The film is followed by an interactive discussion that starts the conversation about alcohol-related sexual assault amongst young adults, provides information on the factors found in alcohol-related sexual assaults, and encourages bystander intervention.
